For Chhath Puja, see the customs of Hemant Soren, Nitish Kumar, Khattar, crowd of devotees gathered at the ghats to offer prayers.

New Delhi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his Bihar and Haryana counterparts Nitish Kumar and Manohar Lal Khattar participated in Chhath rituals on Sunday. Bihar CM Kumar arrived with Governor Rajendra Arlekar to take part in the rituals, while CM Soren offered ‘Sandhya Arghya’ to the setting sun in Ranchi. CM Khattar participated in Chhath Mahotsav in Panipat.

News agency ANI quoted CM Soren as saying, “I hope that India will win today’s match which has made the auspicious festival of Chhath Puja even happier.”

The final match of the World Cup between India and Australia is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The four-day Chhath festival started from Friday. On the first day, devotees take bath at the ghats and participate in rituals. On the second day, worshipers celebrate ‘Kharna’ and distribute Prasad among the family members. On the third day, they offer ‘arghya’ (prayers) to the setting sun, while on the last day, devotees offer arghya to the rising sun.

Hundreds of devotees gathered at various ghats of Delhi on Sunday.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai, while wishing people a happy Chhath, said the government has made all arrangements to ensure that devotees do not face any problem during the puja.

“Chhath Puja is being organized by the government and all arrangements are being made so that people do not face any problem. A large number of people are celebrating Chhath at various places in Delhi. On behalf of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the people of Delhi, I would like to extend my best wishes on the occasion of Chhath,” Rai told ANI.

The four-day Chhath festival will conclude on Monday.
