Chhath Puja 2023: Devotees offered ‘arghya’ to the rising sun on Monday, marking the conclusion of the four-day Chhath festival in various states. Visuals from Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, among other places, show crowds of worshipers standing in the water to offer morning prayers to the Sun God, after offering evening ‘argha’ to the deity on Sunday.
The festival is celebrated every year six days after Diwali, where devotees fast and conclude the festival by offering evening puja to the setting sun and morning puja to the rising sun on the last two days of the festival.

Due to Chhath festival, heavy security arrangements have been made in the states including the national capital. The ghats were decorated and the water bodies were cleaned for the convenience of the worshippers. Drones, security officials were deployed to prevent any untoward incident and to help people in view of the huge crowd.
However, despite clean-up efforts by the AAP government in Delhi, toxic foam remained present in many areas. At Kalinidi Kunj Ghat, women stood in knee-deep water of the Yamuna with toxic foam all around them.
