As soon as the news of Mishra’s death spread, tension spread in the area and when the police reached the spot, Chandana Bauri, BJP MLA from Saltora assembly constituency, protested and refused to hand over the body to the authorities, IANS reported.
Police is investigating the case, while BJP has alleged TMC’s hand in his murder. He also demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari claimed that local goons killed Mishra at the behest of the ruling Trinamool Congress as they were scared of his rising popularity.
Addressing X, the BJP leader wrote, “TMC goons have murdered Subhadeep Mishra and tied his hands and hanged his body from a tree. Mishra from Bankura district was the BJP candidate. He had contested Panchayat elections this year from Nidhirampur in Lotiyaboni area of Gangajalghati block of Saltora assembly constituency. He has been murdered because TMC goons could not digest his growing popularity and stance against corruption.

“I demand a CBI inquiry as the police will try their best to tamper with the evidence to please their political masters and protect the culprits associated with the ruling TMC party,” he said.
However, according to Mishra’s family member, he had an affair with a married woman and her family allegedly murdered him, news agency ANI reported.
